Bloomberg Administration veteran Robert LiMandri assembles group of former Buildings Department
employees to help businesses understand complex changes to code New York, NY (April 22, 2015). Vidaris Inc. is proud to announce its new Code Advisory practice headed by New York principal and former New York City Department of Buildings Commissioner Robert LiMandri. The services offered by the group will enhance the current development process by helping clients understand complex, newly adopted building,
energy and zoning codes. Vidaris’ team has a wide range of expertise in interpreting codes and providing due diligence, plan review, compliance strategy and municipal support. The group’s goal is to maximize their clients’ return on investments by finding opportunities in codes and zoning early in development. In addition, the group will provide other jurisdictions with assistance in the adoption of new codes and enforcement strategies. The team of experts have the experience to work in any city around the U.S. and throughout the world where the International Building Code (IBC) is used.

“We are excited to introduce our unique capabilities to the marketplace which needs professionals focused on code compliance,” LiMandri said. “Through our deep understanding of building codes and decades of experience we can help our clients build more efficiently and effectively while creating previously unrealized value.”

“This new group joins over 100 architects, engineers and other professionals adding to the unmatched expertise of our firm,” Marc Weissbach, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vidaris, said. “Across all of our practice areas, the professionals at Vidaris will work together seamlessly to provide the highest level of service to clients throughout the design, construction and post-occupancy stages of any project.”

“Bob LiMandri led the New York City Buildings Department through two Building Code revisions and during one of the highest construction levels in decades,” Steven Spinola, President of the Real Estate Board of New York, said. “By bringing that experience to Vidaris, he will be offering an unparalleled level of understanding and expertise to the industry.”

The Code Advisory experts can provide review for New York City zoning provisions and development potential such as floor area ratio and use, multiple dwelling regulations, and building/fire/energy code issues. The team knows what to look for and solving issues prior to presentation to the municipality is where they specialize in significantly reducing cost and wait time. While focused in New York City, the team has advised municipalities around the world including Japan, Korea, The Netherlands, Norway and Singapore.

“Too often projects are sent to the Department of Buildings and it’s already too late to make a difference” LiMandri said. “Our deep understanding of the multifaceted issues that builders face creates returns for our clients on every level.”

Joining LiMandri in this practice are three professionals who worked in the New York City Department of Buildings HUB and Technical Affairs office. Together the entire group has experience on tens of thousands of building projects of all types.
