NEW YORK, May 8, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Vidaris, a specialty Architectural and Construction consulting company which owns Israel Berger Associates (IBA) and Viridian Energy and Environmental, today announced they have hired former New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) Commissioner Robert (Bob) LiMandri as Senior Principal in charge of operations and business development. LiMandri served as Commissioner of DOB from 2008 through 2013 under former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, where he led the New York City Construction Code Revision, a set of 25 safety laws and 40 new rules affecting ground-up construction and energy efficiency in building codes. In New York City, Vidaris' key projects include 1 WTC, 4 WTC, 15 Central Park West, The American Museum of Natural History, One Bryant Park and Tribeca Green.

"Bob LiMandri's expertise and track record of innovation in construction, development, safety standards and oversight, make him an ideal addition to our top notch team," said Marc Weissbach, President and Chief Operating Officer of Vidaris. "At Vidaris we continue to experience tremendous growth in the niche markets we serve. We are 'go to' problem solvers for major players in the building and design industry and have increasingly become the architect's architect. Bob's addition will be key to helping us expand and grow further."

While at the Department of Buildings, LiMandri's leadership and expertise led to the creation of monitoring standards and tools to assess high-risk construction, which has resulted in improved safety and saved the jobs of construction workers throughout the City. He implemented energy efficiency standards in the building code and was part of the development of PlaNYC – Mayor Bloomberg's blueprint for sustainability and growth over the next several decades. Bob led a review of over 40,000 properties that were impacted or damaged by Super-storm Sandy and oversaw a host of technological innovations such as creation of the
Development HUB, a paperless approval process that uses virtual meetings and has made the permitting approval process three times faster. Bob also worked on structural reforms in the Department that lead to increased public confidence in the agency and a renewed sense of morale amongst staff.

"I have been working in the real estate and construction industry for the entirety of my career and had some tremendous opportunities, but I couldn't be more excited to be joining Vidaris,"said LiMandri. "They have a great reputation in the industry, and through both IBA and Viridian, they are bringing together the innovation and technology to build more efficient buildings, and the quality and functional inspection services, which were the main focus of my time at DOB. It really is a perfect fit for me."
