Three professionals have recently been promoted as associates at Israel Berger & Associates LLC (IBA) in New York.
Russell Newbold specializes in historic preservation, specifically architectural historic materials conservation and restoration. As an associate he will continue in his role as an advocate for historic structures and materials, emphasizing appropriate and compatible conservation techniques. Newbold's professional experience includes work on mid-century landmark buildings such as Gordon Bunshaft's 270 Park Avenue as well as pre-war buildings including the Mark Hotel, the General Electric Building and 261 Fifth Avenue. Prior to joining IBA, Newbold spent eight years as an associate and as the director of preservation at Ehrenkrantz Eckstut and Kuhn Architects. He has a masters degree from Columbia's Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation.
Mark Brinton, who started at IBA in 1998, is part of the New Construction group, where he had been a senior consultant. In his new role he will be involved in monitoring the early stages of projects and with mentoring field staff. He is presently a project manager for the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, the Riverside buildings on the West Side of Manhattan and the Crown Heights Charter School in Brooklyn. Brinton holds degrees in mechanical engineering technology and graphic design and sculpture from Pennsylvania State University.
Fred Zanghi, RA, joined IBA from Perkins Eastman Architects in 2006. Prior to that he worked at HOK in San Francisco and New York for 13 years where he designed and developed construction documents for courthouses, academic facilities, office buildings sand healthcare projects. Zanghi is a registered architect in the State of New York and his current projects include the Chemistry and Neuroscience Buildings at Princeton University, the Lucida Condominium at 86th and Lexington Avenue and One Madison Park, the sliver building at Madison and 23rd Street. Zanghi has a master of architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from SUNY Buffalo.
