BuildingEnergy15 Conference

March 03, 2015
March 3-5, 2015 @ Seaport World Trade Center

BuildingEnergy is the most established and most cross-disciplinary renewable energy and high performance building conference in the region. Organized by members of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), BuildingEnergy attracts more than 3500 building professionals with its cutting edge, vetted content and open, honest discussion of successes and failures. The conferences accredited educational sessions are rigorous, the high level trade show is engaging, and the three days of networking leads to new colleagues and life-long friendships.

Vidaris' John Hannum will be speaking at the event on Thursday March 5 from 8:30 - 10 AM alongside Andria Love from Payette Associates Inc.  The session is titled "The All Glass Building - Is Energy Efficiency Possible?" and concentrates on the commercial and institutional building types.  The abstract: While glass buildings continue to rise throughout our cities, the question of their sustainability remains. The market is demanding high glazing percentage for the daylight, views, and marketing potential it provides, which can present a considerable hurdle in promoting energy efficiency in modern buildings. During this session, two speakers with varying views will frame the current debate surrounding the all glass building and its place in energy efficient, sustainable design. Specific examples with different methodologies will be presented. We will see if it is possible for the design community as a whole to align on a viewpoint relative to glass and sustainability, so a clear message can be unilaterally conveyed to the broader market.
